The rhythms of modern society, professional affirmation and achievement of economic stability all lead women to postpone the maternity project. In Europe the average age of the first conception has approached 30 years. After age 35 however, fertility begins to rapidly decline. The cryopreservation of oocytes offers women the possibility of having an oocyte reserve available to plan pregnancy at the time they consider suitable, as well as to maintain fertility even when anticancer therapies are necessary. Cryopreservation allows for preserving a certain number of oocytes, which can be used at a later time to start an assisted fertilisation procedure.

To increase the chances of survival of the ovules and the possibility of fertilising them after cryopreservation, the woman undergoes hormonal stimulation to produce a greater number of oocytes. The oocyte pickup that is carried out under sedation is completely painless.

IN DETAIL

1 STIMULATION TO OBTAIN OVULES
Thanks to the daily administration of hormones, the ovaries are stimulated to produce ovules. Stimulation is monitored by the ProCrea specialists.

2 COLLECTION AND CONSERVATION
The oocytes are withdrawn and cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen by means of vitrification, a rapid procedure that increases the level of survival and fertilisation.

3 TRANSFER
At the time of a desired pregnancy the oocytes are fertilised and transferred into the woman's uterus with a simple operation.

HOW
The oocytes are cryopreserved in small tubes in liquid nitrogen, even for several years. At the time of beginning a pregnancy, they are thawed and inseminated by ICSI (micro-insemination). After fertilisation, the embryos are transferred into the maternal uterus.

WHEN
The cryoconservation of the oocytes to preserve one's fertility should be carried out before the age of 35 in order to increase the chances of success.

COSTS
The cost of the cryoconservation process of the oocytes is 3,900 euro, inclusive of preparation and ovarian stimulation, pickup and actual conservation. For further details please consult the relevant section or ask for information.
